Bible and Emotional IntelligenceIt is interesting how people think that the Bible is for the less intelligent, some say that ‘religion (or the Bible) is the opium for the masses’ but if you study closely, especially the life of Jesus, you will see that the Bible, not only tells you how to be saved but also improves Emotional Intelligence in order to withstand the toughest temptation. The Bible clearly says that:

Psalms 111:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.

Surely studying the Bible, the words of the Lord, with utmost reverence will only lead to wisdom and Emotional Intelligence for he is the creator of all and the beginning of all wisdom.

The following video, presented by Dr. Neil Nedley, explores the exciting new field of psychology called Emotional Intelligence. He explains how Emotional Intelligence relates to the Bible and shows the benefits of improving ones Emotional intelligence.

In the video Dr. Neil Nedley reveals the benefits of Emotional Intelligence with real life as well as biblical examples, here are a couple:

Army researchers found that when they subjected a group of volunteers to two sleepless nights, the lack of shuteye seem to hinder participants ability to make decisions in the face of emotionally-charged moral dilemmas (we mention what’s lack of sleep does). Some volunteers change their views on what was morally acceptable after they’ve been awake for two days. This was not universally true however, volunteers who at the beginning of the study scored high on a measure known as emotional intelligence, did not waver on what they found morally appropriate.

So that explains why Christ who was sleep-deprived, who was nutrition deprived, who was suffering all sorts of stressor that can be poured on an individual, layers of stressor. Did he ever change what he thought was morally appropriate, did he ever waver in regards to that? Never did he waiver, he had developed that true and high Emotional Intelligence.

We believe that the sermon is so powerful that we have done a transcript of the whole presentation:
